The final trailer for Speed Racer is not just action packed, but a shock to the system.  After the disappointing Matrix sequels, the brothers Wachowski appear to have found their visual touch once again.  The trailer oozes with style and adrenaline.  Does it look good?  Not in the traditional sense.  The plot doesn’t look riveting and the characters appear paper thin.  However, in the grand tradition of summer popcorn films (think The Day After Tomorrow), it looks like a blast.  It’s a film you’re going to want to see opening weekend with a crowd, and possibly on the iMAX screen.  It’s just one of the most fun trailers in years.

There’s been quite a bit of buzz around the new Speed Racer film, from the brothers who brought you The Matrix trilogy. The newest nugget to whet the appetite of fans? The film will debut on Imax screens alongside the theatrical release. This is becoming more and more common for bgi special effects films. It seems the day is coming soon when all major releases will make it to Imax screens. Of course, the next step after that is Imax 3D. Speed Racer drives into theaters May 9.
