It may not be the most anticipated summer film for some, but for diehard fans there is no bigger summer fare than Speed Racer.  If the trailers have left you iffy on it, then now you can view the first seven minutes above.  So, how does it look?

Interesting, and very much the living cartoon many have made it out to be.  The cuts are fast, but not so much that you can’t follow.  The visuals are vibrant and pop off the screen, but again, not in a completely absurd manner.  It looks about as good as a Speed Racer film could.  The only other possibility was to go the other direction and do really gritty, but it wouldn’t have fit the spirit of the original show.
