Steven Spielberg is an interesting guy. As his career has lengthened, he has seemed less and less interested in personally making the big popcorn films that made him a household name. That’s understandable. What is sort of interesting is his continued interest in such films from a producing standpoint. Lately there’s been Transformers, and now Ghost In The Shell.
Based upon the popular anime, the new Dreamworks production will apparently be live action and 3D. There’s been talk of getting such a production off the ground for a few years, but apparently it was Spielberg that’s finally makign it happen. Jamie Moss, of Street Kings, will apparently pen the script.

Like anything, I figure this will go one of two ways… it’ll be really good or really bad.
My only hope is that would be that we’d take the plot off in some other direction and do a Stand Alone Complex type movie that wouldn’t infringe on any existing plot lines.
Otherwise, why bring in Jamie Moss? The concepts for the movie are already fully formed…

What I love about this blog is its sophisticated, insiderish flair. A more ordinary blog would have simply said that Moss would write the script. But here, he “pens” the script! How je-ne-sais-quoi!
