In case you are unsure, red band trailers are essentially R-rated cuts of trailers.  Where a normal movie trailer you see in theaters has has basically no cursing or gore, red band trailers are free to include such things.  You may not be familiar with them since they’ve been missing from most theaters for a while now, but that is about to change.

Regal Cinemas has announced that they will return red band trailers to their chain of theaters.  With over 6,000 screens in 39 states, Regal’s move is a major one that will likely be copied by other theater chains.  But don’t worry about your kids seeing the new Saw trailer before the new Pixar film.  Red band trailers only air before other R-rated fare.
