In a move that smells of greed, the last Harry Potter book, The Deathly Hallows, will be made into two films. Rumors have persisted for months that the last Potter book was too dense to be made into a singular film, and now it has been confirmed. The films will release as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I in November 2010 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II in May 2011.
This is great news for Potter fans who are itching for anything more of the series they can get. Instead of looking forward to two more movies, they now have three. Still, does the final book require two whole films? Somehow they’ve managed to make the previous books all singular films. If anything, much of The Deathly Hallows is slow and not extremely adaptable to screen. Part I of the two films will likely start with a bang and die off with a whimper. The meat of the story is in Part II, along with the climactic battle scene.
